. YVR is a good place to transit North America, as I suggested in post #3, without any of this silliness.
All passengers transitting the US have to present their passports, are fingerprinted and photographed. This even applies if they are staying with the same aircraft, ie like taking ANZ's London-LAX-Auckland B747 flights NZ1 and NZ2.
ANZ admits there has been a lot of passenger resistance to these US procedures at LAX. Hence its decision to offer passengers the option of a different routing to Auckland, in this case via Hong Kong, later this year.
