I've stayed there Post-K. The rooms were small but very clean, new and bright, and the lobby and environs were amazing. The staff was very good, though my interactions with them were limited. There is no Conceirge lounge, so if this is important you may wish to try the nearby JWM.

There were no signs of flooding or water damage anywhere in the hotel (they are in a part of town by the river the locals call "the island"). As to the saftey of thre area, I recommend as always to pay careful attention to your surroundings. I used valet parking to reduce the amount of time spent walking around at night. The area looks safe and quiet, but one never knows in NOLA. Walking around the area during the day is no problem. There are a few nice restaurants and bars very close and Canal is about a 5-10 minute leisurely stroll away.
