It is always important to think positive. In this situation, the positive aspect is that the OP was SMART enough to do what to do in these situations.
Thinking positive does not mean congratulating someone on a job well done, when they did less than what should have been done in the first place to mitigate the situation.

I don't know whether comparing a piece of metal with a human being is a fair comparison - especially since none of us know what the argument in the car forum was about.
