Decent place
Last stay was 1 year ago. Older Embassy Suites .. rooms were on the smaller side, however the new Hilton beds/alarm clocks, etc. were in place. Typical ES breakfast and manager's reception. Gold and diamond members are usually upgraded to the top (8th) floor. Rooms are the same however they contain bottled water and a snack.
According to their website, they just completed a full hotel renovation.
FYI: There is a parking charge now charged by the hotel, but I'm not sure of the price. I believe that diamond members do not have to pay this. The parking lot is very small, so if you plan on driving, be prepared to find street parking, especially if you are there over the weekend.
This hotel (like other ES) is a hotspot for sports groups and families on the weekends. During the Minnesota State Fair (Mid-August - Labor Day) this place would be an absolute ZOO and I would suggest staying away.
This is the only Hilton propery in downtown St. Paul. Other options that you may wish to try are properties in Woodbury and Shoreview .. not to far from downtown. I recently stayed at the HGI in Shoreview and had a fantastic stay.
