first you havent done the trip right for maximum miles. you can route the trip to hnl as being lax-sfo-hnl and add another 500 miles.
But my guess is that strictly on points per mile, you'd be better off flying to somewhere in continental u.s. but i haven't sat down and compared it.
if you fly muc to like pdx or sacramento, you could route it in a way where you fly muc-lhr-lax then pick up lax-sfo-(sacramento or portland), effectively adding 2,000 miles to the lax trip, while saving maybe $500???
So you would get 3,000 fewer miles but do better on cost. Further If you really wanted to screw around, you might be able to route it to pick up some of those additional miles, but it depends how crazy you are. muc-lhr-jfk-iad-lax for instance would add 500 miles.
by the way, it appears that us airways may offer cheaper fares than united from muc
also note that the den stop on the sfo-den-iad itinerary doesnt make sense. It doesn't add any significant miles. You're better off with the nonstop flight to iad (or if you want to screw around, fly either sfo-lax-iad and add 500 miles, or if you they allow it oak-lax-sfo-iad, adding 1,000 miles to the itinerary.)
also watch the fares to some commonly discounted locations like las vegas. you could fly muc-whatever-lax-las.
