It did it again! SFO-SEA on my way to JNU for a Lindblad Alaska Inside Passage cruise (ultra fantastic, BTW).
Checked in at the kiosk. Anwered "yes" to the "Do you want to upgrade" question. Kiosk came back with sorry, no availability and thereafter failed to offer me the chance to check baggage. Ms. birdstrike can confirm my story.
I was going to test it again on my SIT-SEA-SFO return, but there are no kiosks in SIT...
