I agree that flying is extremely safe on US planes now; but I'd give up my carry-on life style, if I thought my briefcase would be of any benefit. I haul it to and from school each day (good exercise anyway) and keep it next to me in my classroom. I'm within earshot of several lady teachers who weigh about 130 pounds each. I figure I can run fast with my briefcase if I hear a scream.

I have good credentials for teaching, but I think one major reason I was hired was my size and fitness.

Flying is safer than teaching.
