Yes, that seems a bit high for a mileage run. My goal is about 3.6 cents per mile or less. I make MRs to Singapore, which is about 19k miles, and I'm usually happy if I can get a fare for less than $1k. But I wouldn't do an MR to, say, Beijing for the same cost per mile. I don't have any interest in going there. By contrast, I like Singapore, which is a factor in my decision-making process.

Long story short -- If you WANT to go to Honolulu (and who wouldn't!), make your decision based on the cost per mile + your desire to visit the place.
