Remember you are being asked to lead the trip based on your name rather than just lead the trip cause you something about the field, area, etc. As such, do not sell yourself cheap but on the otherhand do not go overboard.

I have many friends who are professional guides, several of which are based on their name. When guiding they typically quote based XXX dollars per day plus expenses (airfare, hotels, meals, and other misc travel related expenses). Sometimes they fly business class most times not. All depends on the client. Is this a low budget type trip or a high end trip?

The big question is what should XXX be? A rough ball park would be based what you earn at your "day" job and go from there depending on what is expected.

Because this is a travel agency the suggestion for a suite and a business class ticket is reasonable - however if the flight is domestic I would just make it a perference rather than a requirement (Especially if you have a good chance to upgrade). Also ask yourself how must you will be spending in the room versus with the clients? I personally do not need a suite just a comforable quiet room. Of course some of the countries I have visted getting a suite was the only way to get a private bathroom ;-). And if it comes between hard cold cash or a suite I will take the cash ;-)

Finally, think about whether this is something you want to do in the future? The agency might give you everything you ask for but then not give you any follow up offers.

One other do you want to take you spouse with you? A friend recently lead a high end travel trip through Chili and Argentina. His agreement was the following - send me there first on a one week scouting trip to check everything out and then let me bring my wife instead of paying me.

You say we in your message. Did the agency ask for both you and your spouse? Will you both be working?
