Thanks for the information. The 2 domestic segments I had with AA and the old last name were changed for free by the EXP desk...It took about 30 minutes for them to change it...not sure why so long, but I didn't care because the end result was good.
The international segment posed a challenge because one leg was serviced by BA. They had to send a request to BA to let them know about the change and said call back in a couple of days. I did, they said no change, to call back in a week. A week later I called back and repeated the same process basically as I did for the domestic tickets, about 30 minutes on hold...then all of a sudden a new ticket. All of this was for free...not sure if this was b/c I'm EXP or just because AA was being nice.
I'd advise anyone with this situation in the future to try and avoid it if possible by not changing the name on your passport until all currently booked tickets have been traveled on.
