I signed my hubby up for the Plat Challenge. We flew JFK - LAX - HNL in V and returned HNL - SFO - JFK in G. Miles wise, this exceeds 10k, but not by points. His account however shows he's now platinum. We upgraded the last leg, but I didn't think that would make a difference.

His biz travel is during the academic year - starting Sept, after the 90 day period has lapsed. We do have a vacation planned but is cheaper to fly on a different airline ($500 total in savings with the whole family flying). He was planning to fly AA to meet the challenge but it doesn't look like he has to now.

Is this a mistake on AA's part or have I calculated points wrong?
