Maybe they should consider telling the other airlines... CX is quite clear in writing that they are not changing their cabin baggage policy for flights from the UK, so either they have a shock coming or BAA isn't telling the full story. My expectation is that the UK will fall into line with the rest of the world and allow the airline to allow exemptions on an individual basis.
But I guess we will just have to wait and see. Now that I have the confirmation in writing from CX, if I am subsequently forced to check something that I don't want to and it is then damaged or lost then obviously I can go after CX to recover the cost. I'd be quite surprised if they have gone into writyiong on this without being sure.
