No recourse against most merchants with Honors Amex? Risky?

Hi all,

Just received a Hhonors Amex and found some text in the agreement that concerns me...

Basically, with my other cards I've had the understanding that if I make a purchase and the item/service/etc is unsatisfactory for some reason and I can't work out a compromise with the merchant, then I can dispute it with my CC company. They'll do some negotiating and if the decison comes down on my side I wouldn't have to pay... I haven't done this yet, but that's the way I understand the process to work.

In the Hhonors agreement, it says they only provide this service IF:

1) The purchase was within 100 miles of your home.
2) The price was > $50
3) They'll waive 1 and 2 if they own the company you're fighting with.

What the hell is that about? Nowadays the trend is for CC companies to back the customer. This is making me think twice about using it as my primary card...

Any thoughts on this?
