For reasons unknown, it takes a considerable period of time between the announcement of pending ST membership and the actual happening. Aeroflot took a couple of years, China Southern was announced in Aug 2004 and they are still not in, and COPA, Kenya, Tarom and Air Europa were announced a year ago. Other pending carriers include Portugalia and Middle East AL.

In other words, do not hold your breath waiting for this!
