For some crazy reason, sometimes, if you renew you Canadian passport at a embassy outside the country you get a non-machine readable passport -- which is a pain in the butt.
Yeah and you get a bunch of information warnings in the front. Coupled with a note saying "Issued in xxxx on xxxxxxx" which confuses the hell out of some people. I was in budapest and had to argue the customs agent so I could get through, he thought it was a phony passport. I wonder, at which point do you start to bribe them? Sometimes I have a tough time letting it out of my hands.
