For What It's Worth...

Avis consistently says we can get the multi-thousand-mile bonus only once; AA says we get it as many times as we rent a car. Who will eventually decide if we get our bonus? Avis, because they must be paying AA for the miles, or AA because they were the ones who introduced the promotion?

I think it's not worth going too far out of the way to use this promotion, since it looks like it will be uncertain (after the first rental) if we can get the bonus. Does anyone really know?
No, apparantly, but based on what I read here I changed four week-long Avis rentals into one month-long rental for June to Alamo for both a lower cost AND the promise of 250 BONUS miles per day - per AAdvantage CS they'd be in addition to the regular 50 earned or, for the 31 day rental 6/1 to 7/1, 9300 miles. As a 20 year AAdvantage meber, the bonus with them would have been 5K per rental, but it sounded "iffy" and so far, it would appear, is. And 9K's nothin' to sneeze at. Especially when I can do it again, in July and August, under a different promo with Avis (targetted and, per AA, seemingly for 250 miles per day, not 250 extra.)

Except that I turned the Alamo rental in on Saturday and Sunday night I got credit for 250 miles for the bonus and 1550 miles for the rental in my AA aaccount. 1800 miles. Not 9100 miles.

Anyone else in the same boat?
