QF WP I assume you started the challenge pre June 16, because otherwise completing the challenge will get you AAdv PLT till Feb 08 so no need to accrue more miles this calendar year to requal for Gold for 2007. You'd need to requal in 2007 for the following year. Obviously that's outside of the consideration of the greater value of the accrued miles in any case.
It really was a no brainer for me since I live in the US - although I rarely take advantage of the domestic upgrades. But even outside of the miles earn/burn rate, I have used 3 eVIPs, traded 2 on CC, and will most likely trade the other 3 this year. Additionally about to book award travel LAX-DUB for next year - 3 Us total 270k miles. Can't beat that. I just requal'd for EXP again.

so another 8 eVIPs

And the EXP desk is definitely much better in my experience that the WP desk. IME AA really does make you feel like a valued customer, more so than QF.
