Number 1. A paid first class ticket is a paid first class ticket. What Delta charges for the ticket and how they arrived at that fare are beside the point.
These A class fares to HNL are way BELOW the full Y fare, $1,000 cheaper in some instances.
I think Joe Flyer's point was if there was some reason to bump from F to Y then the amount due for compensation would be in question. I agree it might get ugly but the bottom line is that is a very, very rare situation that there are more F passengers than seats. Occassionally, upgrades are cleared when it appears connecting passengers aren't going to make it then they do. Or, I think MCO has this more than most (at least it was the only place that it ever became an issue with me) an equipment change that results in fewer seats.
