LOL, my freshman year in college, they did fire drills in each dorm at least once a month. Of course, they typically did them at the oddest times during the day. When they were doing them, the RAs would randomly select dorm rooms to double check, to make sure people were obeying the alarm. At one point, my boyfriend at the time and I were, um, enjoying each other's company, and the fire alarm started going off. We figured it was a drill, and decided to ignore it. A few minutes later, we smell smoke, and think that perhaps, we should in fact consider it to not be a drill. As we're getting dressed, his RA knocks on his door to make sure no one is in the room. He answers and says we'll be out in a minute, and the RA waits for us, and after looking at us, smiles at him. It was an all-male dorm, and I was one of the few females that had been in the dorm at the time of the fire alarm, so you can only imagine the comments we got when we got down to the assembly area quite a bit after everyone else. There really was a small fire. Someone lit signs by the elevator on fire, but it was out before we were out of the building. But, ever since that experience, I don't wait to respond to the fire alarm, if for no other reason than the potential for embarrassment.
