I also recently wrote to DL to express frustration with the Song-only service LGA-PBI. I had held out hope that this route would be spared song, like it was spared DLx. No luck. DL responded to say that there wasn't demmand for paid F on this route - so sayonara to the F cabin. They did promise to monitor the situation to see if demand changes. I don't know how they're going to tell that if they don't offer it - but that's another thread's topic.</font>
Delta's take on this and the experiences of the flyers on these boards make this topic very interesting. I am a CO platinum who travels to South Florida twice a month, and it is axiomatic among the CO crowd that EWR-PBI is one of the most difficult comp upgrades in their system. In season especially, CO holds out almost all of the upgradeable seats until the last minute and does in fact sell many of them at the regular F or YOP rates during the last few days before the flight. A platinum upgrade on this route usually consists of what has been denominated as a "battlefield promotion" where an FA comes to get you out of your coach seat just before the doors close and moves you to the front.
Experience also is that it is somewhat different on CO's EWR-FLL routing. On these flights, the upgrade is not as difficult as the PBI runs, and since the advance discount fares are generally comparable, manyos of us with places in south and central Palm Beach County tend to use FLL much more than PBI.
I would not think that LGA-PBI and LGA-FLL would be any different and it is probable IMHO that Delta is dissumulating in order to homogenize its service to So Fla for logistical or some other reasons.
