Getting a seat assignment won't hurt, especially on the 744 where middle seats are plentiful in coach. In my experience KE tends to seat groups way in the back, which usually gets accordingly noisier.
Hmm, I personally try to seat groups wherever they please, lol I always ask..
But real problem is whenver I try to get them together on the plane its often the case that finding 3 seats together in line are incredibly hard in front, as seats are taken in a very scattered manner for some reason.. (at least from my experience)
