Actually there is a 3rd type, linear induction. The same technology used on the motors of the bullet trains in Japan. Panasonic makes this and has up to 14,000 strokes per minute, giving a markedly different shave than the mesh kind. Still not perfect for everyone, but the best electric shaver that I've found, particularly if used wet.
