Have you considered that after checking the drawers, toilets etc you might leave fresh traces of you being there so the staff cleaning the room after you leave will notice it and think it was YOU who left whatever it was there.
Whatever traces you have in mind, which I'll leave to the reader's imagination, I can't imagine leaving them behind dresser drawers, in the ceiling over the toilet or in any of the other places folks stash magazines.
