I think it used to be easier on NH. When I booked my *A First Class award early last year using AC Aeroplan points there were 2 seats available on almost any day I wanted on the LAX-NRT route. I was looking again recently for a trip next year and I can not find 2 F seats available for a *A award on NH on any date at all. However, if I use the NH award tool to look for 2 F seats for a NH F award I can find 2 seats. It looks to me as if they make 2 F seats available for their own members redeeming for awards and usually only 1 now for those of us redeeming for *A awards. YMMV
There are numerous posts on FT that suggest UA MP members do not seem to have the same access to *A award seats that members of other FF schemes seem to have. That could make it even harder for you to find those elusive 2 F seats.
