One problem I see is that, in general, one must fly to get miles. Asking for "original routing credit" may work, but it starts to look like the case where one buys a ticket just to get the miles, and doesn't actually fly. If this is the intent, it clearly is not allowed. Now, this isn't your case, but it depends upon how an agent interprets what happened. In the end, it can't hurt to call.
