Just returned from our Thailand trip. We were at the HI from 6/16-6/19, (had reservations from 6/16-6/24 but decided to head up to Chiang Mai...). Husband & I, with no status, were upgraded to a superior room, #202. Our daughters were across the hall in #220. These are not really corner rooms, but rather rooms adjacent to the temporary wall erected to separate rooms (on the other side of this wall) undergoing renovation. A bit noisy only during the first day, and that was after 9:00 am. Work was always completed well before the scheduled 7:00 pm at night quoted...

No mention of our "once in a lifetime" rate, and we were treated with warmth & hospitality. We were only charged 1 Baht per night per room upon check out, and not for the original amount of our booking. A welcome fruit plate was given to us, and we had the buffet breakfast each morning to be sure we "gave back" to the hotel for honoring our rate. There was a promotion for the breakfast while we were there, 300 Baht per person, and kids under 12 were free (ours are under 12!). A great breakfast at this price!
