I just check my butt right into business class and only after I boarded did I remember what I had failed to do. By that time the F cabin was full.
I still slept all the way to Tokyo though.
Cheers,
And remeber, don't do dumb things.
I didn't see this post... you are the "guru" on these flights, so I'm sorry you missed out!
Last night I finished my F ticket to the US and back. Am now in BKK for a day before doing some intra-Asia travel. About a week ago, NH switched my flight from 767 to 777--and in fact, the July/August NH Timetable now lists BKK flights as 2x777, with 744 as a possible EQV (no 767 listed at all). Actually, the 767 Club Ana Asia seats look better than the 777 Old C seats, so maybe the 777 is not such a good thing if you are flying discounted Biz and have no NH status?
Anyhow, before leaving from the USA, I emailed a NRT F concierge about the possibility of sitting in Rows 1-2, explaining that I know the rules, and requested to sit there only after Full C pax and NH Diamond Pax had been accommodated.
Didn't hear back, but upon arrival at the NH Lounge at NRT, was delighted to be handed a Boarding Pass for 1A and directed into the F section of the lounge!
I'm guessing this was an easy decision for her, since there were only 3/12 seats occupied in Rows 1-2, while J class in all had only 14 pax, including a few Op-Ups from Y (I saw them getting their upgrades at the gate!).
Really bad load--I hope just because it's a Wednesday night flight?
Service, while always excellent, was ridiculously good with just the 3 of us up front. They even set up a small snack and amenity display for us on one of the empty Row 2 seats. I slept like a baby all the way to BKK!
