I don't think the baggage limitations are written to be "sequential" in some way (i.e. you have to bring bags 1 & 2 in order to bring bag #3). IMO, it simply says that *G members are allowed an extra bag that weighs up to 70 lbs -- but there's nothing that says that the "extra" bag allowance can't be your first and only checked bag.

What's unclear to me is whether it's 70 lbs x 3 or 50 lbs + 50 lbs + 70 lbs. That part is certainly ambiguous on the web site, although I suspect it's the former. I certainly hope I never need to find out -- 210 lbs is a heck of a lot of luggage!
