Being the cheap guy I am, I liked the fact that when I went into downtown DC, I was able to go towards the airport which is only a few miles away then do a U-turn by the rental car areas so I could head downtown in the non-toll lanes.
Been there. Done That.
But just a word of caution - cops do check for people who do this during rush hour to avoid tolls and have the faster lanes to travel on as opposed to the tolled, traffic filled, non airport access roads.
So you could get in trouble.
