If the airlines have interline agreements, you should be OK. I have had success interlining in the past when flying on different carriers on different tickets. Usually it involved situations where I was crossing the ocean in business class and then doing an intra-Europe hop in coach, or having award tickets involving UA and LH, where they had to ticket the UA and LH segments separately.
