Well I think EK do a very poor job with special meals.My 6 year old granddaughter has just flown EK in business class BNE-LHR.Her mother notified them that she has a peanut allergy.EK replied that she should provide the food for her meals as they could not guarantee a peanut free meal.JAL,AA,QF and MH have had no problems with this and she has always been fed without any problems.
When my daughter advised EK that the flight was over 24 hours in duration and the risk of food poisoning with prepared food was high as there was going to be at least 6 hours when it could not be refrigerated EK replied bring along canned food and we can reheat it.First problem there are no can openers on board.Finally figure out a way to open can and then say they can not reheat the food.Upshot is 6 year old goes without food for 26 hours.Very poor EK.
