Welcome to FT tiger926. All of Spirit's coach seats are 17" wide, so I doubt if an 18" car seat could possibly fit. On the flip side, the 16.5" seat should do nicely.

Ironically, Spirit gives no information about the size of car seats they accept, however they do give detailed measurements for kennels on the same page.
