But thanks for your comments JDiver. In a way, I agree. When I was talking to the agent today I mentioned that a few years ago I had booked a flight LAX to the South of France on Swiss on J on a few days notice. She said that had often been possible, but there are less flights now and more miles chasing them. The situation is not as positive as it used to be for short notice redemption of miles. But we have to use our miles when we can!

I will look into the code shares you mentioned. Guess I didn't realize that Turkish Air code shares could be available for AA award flights.
