I know more A330s are being delivered to NW this year, but I didn't realize that they would be getting enough airframes to end all DC10 services.

I believe NW still flies the DC10 on the following routes:
MSP-LGW-MSP (1x Daily)
MSP-AMS-MSP (1x Daily)
MSP-HNL-MSP (1x Daily)
HNL-KIX-HNL (1x Daily)
MEM-AMS-MEM (1x Daily)
AMS-BOM-AMS (1x Daily)

NW would need six A330 deliveries to fulfill these routes by January for all DC10 services to be dropped, and I don't think that is happening. I suppose MSP-LGW-MSP might be dropped for the winter again; however, NW is taking over the EWR-AMS-EWR route starting in November with an A333, so that's not any savings. It will be sad to see the DC10 leave, but the A330 is one fine airplane!

The DC-10 was great in it's day, but the plane should have been retired over 10 years ago.

NWA is taking delivery of quite a few A330's. And I'm sorry to say, are going to utilize more 757's. (And they have) Mind you, this is employee gossip, but there is talk that NWA is going to use the 757 on Atlantic flying. Like other Airlines, NWA is planning a push in more international non-stops to Europe.
