But that's just the point I made. The T's and C's state that you are liable for taxes and surcharges. The surcharges are a moot point and I (personally) find them an irritant. But the taxes are inevitable - BA collect these and they are such things as landing fees at the airports, taxes imposed by governments and so on. Even if the fuel surcharge was removed, and I agree that really it's a bit naughty, the taxes would remain.

Nonetheless, these flights remain superb value if you use your miles wisely.

Voting with your feet I cannot quibble with at all - as you so rightly observe, the airlines won't change the program unless people leave...
