How about a combination of ET and CE. BA.com prices LHR-KBP (ET) and KBP-LHR (CE, using the upgrade option) at GBP 887.30 for the dates you mentioned.

Still a lot of money, but better than GBP 1500.

Perhaps you could write a trip report on what it's like BEHIND the curtain on the plane. (I am not quite sure what goes on back there myself?)
