Yup, quite true. We'd all rather it wasn't there - after all, it'd be more money to spend at our destinations, or on pressies for Sheep or Muriel.
The thing that I'm mystified by is why people bang on and on (and on) about it, chucking their toys out their 'pram and saying that BA are outrageous and despicable and all the rest of it. And then (in whatever manner) carry on collecting BA Miles to redeem once more...even when they are fully aware of the surcharge that will be imposed.
