In my quest to find low Business/First tickets to Bangkok this august, I noticed that fares from BKK to LAX and back are a whole lot cheaper than from LAX to BKK.

So I started playing around and found that one way coach tickets to BKK on CP were about $700 and change. And a one way First ticket from BKK to LAX on CP was only about $2350! And that was straight from th www.aa.com website! So maybe I can just suck it up in coach for 18 hours and fly back in F.

I've considered just about every airline but prefer Cathay because it has the most convenient arrival time and and also so I can pick up OneWorld miles.

Anyway, the question is; is their some catch? I realize local taxes may apply but they don't seem substantial. Would CP honor my return F ticket if I buy it in the U.S.?
