Going to England with a friend, rev or award ticket?

So I will be going on vacation later this summer (unless something comes up, as it always seems to ) with a friend, and our destination of choice is London. We are doing this on our own dime, so want to keep costs down for the tickets, but neither of us is willing to ride coach. On the days we want to fly, I have found two Z fares and one C fare. I have 125k miles and my friend 60k miles. We will do one of two things: Either my friend buys 65k miles, and we both use F awards, or I get them an F award and they buy me a B ticket and give me 20k to fly in J. The difference isn't enough money to really worry about, a couple hundred bucks max. Being as I somehow got on a challenge that is almost complete to give me PLT through next year, earning miles on this trip won't be an issue for status. However, it is an issue of spending all 125k and being at 0 at the end of the trip, or flying in J on a B fare and ending up with about 20k at the end. Oh, and if I go for the upgraded B fare, my friend (who was so delighted by the prospect of going F) said I could have their remaining miles if I needed them later for an upgrade or some such. I know this is the definition of a YMMV situation, but what would you do? We will be going from ORD, and it will be the day flight.
