I see where you're coming from here, and I can't give a definitive answer, but I would imagine that thos pax purchasing an upgrade would not get the class of service bonus as they have not purchased an Envoy ticket. GoEnvoy is a benefit available to coach passengers, and I would be hugley surprised if by buying an upgrade it got you the same miles as someone paying $3000 plus for a full Envoy ticket. Nor should it.. you have not booked or paid for Envoy so you won't get the extra miles. In my mind that is perfectly fair.
