Will this work with a OW award?

DCA-JFK-HEL-ARN-LHR-ABX then EDI-LHR-JFK-DCA.

I ask because I don't know if they will allow the JFK-HEL-ARN portion since I don't plan to stop over in HEL, just connect to ARN. I know it would have worked in the past but JFK-HEL-ARN is no longer the "most direct route" if you don't stopover in HEL. Would I have to stopover in HEL rather than connect?
