The upgrade was, according to the TA, a special - buy full-fare C, get free upgrade to F. But all I have is her word on it. She was right the last time I did this (on AA) but that time the ticket came with a paper UG certificate. Not this one.
Guess I'll just have to wing it.
Could well be the case. I know we have these kind of sales in The Netherlands too. I would suggest calling UA to add your mileage plus number to the booking; that way you can use My Itineraries and you're sure to get mileage.
