I've done several NRT/KIX-PVG flights in J and the service is quite good. JL usually uses 777s or 744s ex-NRT and 763s ex-KIX. I have seen 767s used ex-NRT as well (am on one PVG-NRT next week).
I do the same runs ex NRT... usually to PEK or ICN. The JL a/c usually don't have sleepers in J (but no need on the short hauls). And if they don't have Empower, the crew provides spare laptop batteries, which is very nice. Speaking of PEK, I was there 8 weeks ago and timed how long it took to get from the door of the plane to the hotel limo outside... 11 minutes It is slick! (although I have the benefit of an APEC express card)
