Called to make reservation on the phone and reservation was cancelled

Luckily, I got this sorted out but I thought I'd relate the story. I need to go to San Jose, CA this weekend and the fares were quite high on HP and UA so I combined a HP/AA routing through SNA which saved me some money. To do this, I had to call HP to make the reservation using an unused flight credit I had. The reservation agent gave me seats and a confirmation code and I went to check it online a few days later and everything seemed fine.

However, yesterday I went to go check on my upgrades and the website told me I had no reservation. After calling US, I was told to wait on hold while a supervisor was fetched. The first one couldn't help with HP only routings so I went back on hold while another was found. The second one realized the agent I'd called to ticket this had instead of issuing a ticket, put my reservation a three day hold causing it to cancel itself. Thankfully, after much time on the phone, they were able to reinstate my original fare and I bought the ticket yesterday on the phone. Total time on hold: 51 minutes. Overall a very annoying experiance.
