As usual, check out the airport broshures (usually a stand somewhere with attractions). Also pay attention to the newspaper (these can be a good source of coupons) where you are staying. Often found dinner or lunch specials. The store added also let you know of food discounts, for making your own sandwitch to buying some wine for comsumption in your room or to take to the many BYOB places to dine. We found several motels we stayed at allowed you to bring wine to there place and did not change for corkage when dining. Licensing apparently allowed the consumption, but not the sale of wine. Some places will give a AAA discount for those from America. Their autoclub has some arrangements. Senior rates are often available, but beware, they are pensioner rates, this is not always okay for us elders from America (I do not believe that they are for that purpose). Also some bigger hotels will have travel desk areas with racks that might included discounts for entry to some places.

We found entry to many museums, etc free, donation or modest in price. Some tour buses provide discounts to the attractions they stop at (we often did this in Sydney because I do not like to drive in Sydney). These xx attraction buses are handy.

We found most of our car rental companies provided maps, with coupons, when requested.

Don't forget your coupons from home. We often have been able to use food coupons from home at the same company abroad.

Somethings you can book over the internet and get a discount. We did that with a whale watching crusie and a couple other things, I just can recall their exact nature.

Hope this help some.
