I have 2 inquiries in the "Requests Viewed By Others" section and find it hard to believe that Chase saw these two requests as TOO MANY.

Yes, you're correct in your thinking there. I don't know if Chase pulls Experian specifically, but basically any credit card application will result in a hard pull. I do find it hard to believe that they denied you simply based on having two hard pulls on your account; chances are that they denied you for other reasons as well and decided to just give you that as the denial cause.
