I am flying United domestically this weekend and will be bringing back six bottles of liquor. How would you recommend accomplishing this? They're standard-sized bottles of gin, vodka, etc. I was thinking carry-on, the only downside being that it would be quite a heavy carry-on. Checking it seems like a very risky move...too many stories of broken wine bottles for my liking.

Would anyone disagree with me? Does United have any specific policies against carrying that many bottles of liquor as long as they remain unopened during the flight?
