AR has been talking about this route for over 3 years. I remember flying AR domestically in March 2003 and the service announcement was all over the inflight mag.

To be fair, I believe it has much to do with 5th freedoms (or lack of). I think AR originally wanted to route via Switzerland but couldn't get 5th freedom rights.
