The hotel is going to undergo another renovation, according to an article I was reading, to transform it into a St. Regis property. Starwood's strategy is to have diversified brand offerings in Hawaii, to include a new W, Sheraton, Westin and St. Regis properties. Looks like the Princeville will fulfill the latter.
Apparently, the Renaissance Wailea Beach will also become a St. Regis.
Princeville hotel will get $40M renovation, St. Regis brand
Pacific Business News (Honolulu) - June 16, 2006
Starwood Hotels & Resorts plans to spend $40 million to renovate the hotel at Princeville Resort on Kauai and nudge it further upscale as a St. Regis, the hotel company's most exclusive brand.
The hotel chain is negotiating a deal with the property owners for upgrading the property, with the details expected to be finalized over the next several months, said Keith Vieira, Starwood Hawaii vice president.
If all goes well, the Princeville St. Regis -- with luxurious rooms, personal butlers and other indulgences -- will open in 2007.
