The packets are functional and clever.
I think the packets make a lot more sense and look and work fine. I dont use salt and pepper on my food so I dont really notice that much but the little packets are a nice design and functional. I would think cleaning and filling the shakers is a real pain in the butt and not worth the effort. The salt and pepper presentation is way down on the list of crap I care about on my flight.
